*Catholic church has been present since the founding of the city in 1718

*Was established in 1793 when Louisiana and the Two Floridas were gained back to the US from Great Britain.
*Best known church in NOLA is St. Louis Cathedral- built in 1718
- First woman of color to start a nun convent attended here, and is up for Saint hood.
- The bishops are actually still buried under the floors of the cathedral.
